Shakira hasn’t produced an English record since her 2009 smash “She Wolf”. Well folks, as of January 13, 2014, she is back and better than ever. After releasing her new single “Can’t Remember to Forget You” ft. Rihanna on Monday the 13th, she announced her upcoming album to be released on March 25, 2014.
In “Can’t Remember to Forget You”, Shakira and Rihanna team up to produce a rock/latin flare about struggling against a toxic relationship they can’t get rid of. “Said not to repeat yesterday’s mistakes/What I tend to do when it comes to you/I see only the good, selective memory”. While the harder-rock sound is a little different for Shakira, the track is never short of supplying the hip-moving sensuality that Shakira is so famous for. Rihanna brings a little more character to the track as she laments about her poor mistakes and continued struggle against this harmful relationship – something she knows all too well. “I go back again/Fall of the train/Land in his bed/Repeat yesterday’s mistakes”.
